SEND Matters is a CIC
SEND Matters is now a Community Interest Company (CIC).
The directors of SEND Matters Lucy Collins and Laura Graham are delighted to announce that SEND Matters is now Community Interest Company (CIC).
This marks an important milestone in our journey to ensure our network and clients are empowered and through SEND Matters they can secure the support they need, for their children to thrive.
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a type of social enterprise designed to serve a community's needs rather than purely generate profits for shareholders. CICs operate like regular companies but have special legal protections and obligations that ensure their activities benefit the public.
SEND Matters is dedicated to improve the lives and educational opportunities for children with SEND, and supports clients through the complicated UK SEND system.
Founder of SEND Matters, Lucy Collins said: ‘I’m so excited about this new chapter for SEND Matters. I created the company to help other parents and carers just like me and since then we have won every case at tribunal and helped and given advice to countless people who need SEND answers or signposting.
‘One of our priorities is to create a means tested advocacy support service, so that the parents and carers who really need representation (but can’t afford to pay for it), will be able to fight unlawful and unfair decisions about their children’s education and wellbeing’.
